For generations, this breed has accompanied hunters in the field. In the past, as today, an English Springer Spaniel can be a source of great pride for its handler.
This is an intelligent breed with a natural enthusiasm for hunting. Its responsiveness to training can be rewarding for both novice and experienced handlers. The Springer is versatile: it can flush game, follow a scent and retrieve. Some have even been worked on wild boar.
The breed’s generally friendly attitude towards other dogs can also be an advantage when working alongside them.

An English Springer Spaniel can also work independently and be a valuable partner when hunting with just its handler.
Springers can perform well in field trials and in Polish working competitions for small hunting breeds and tracking dogs.

English Springer Spaniels are trusting dogs that form close bonds with their handlers. In return, they need affection and human companionship. For a hunter, this breed is best suited to someone seeking both a working partner and a full member of the family.

Although many Springers show strong working instincts, ask the breeder for advice about the particular mating and puppy that best suit your plans.
